What to expect
Ethics is our foundation and awareness enables our competency.
But how are tax practitioners meant to handle the steep learning curve and uncertainty of crypto?
This is a webinar for tax practitioners and their staff who are uncertain of whether their crypto and blockchain knowledge is sufficiently up to scratch to be providing guidance to clients in this space. What are the ethical challenges and various learning options for tax practitioners? How can we contribute our experience to potential tax reform with a view to simplifying the taxation of crypto and digital assets?
Dr Elizabeth Morton , RMIT University lecturer of taxation in the School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain joins us to discuss:
- how we can manage our ethical challenges and risks (TASA 2009),
- choosing the right CPD relative to our services, and
- making submissions to the Board of Taxation's Review of the Taxation of Digital Assets in Australia
- giving our feedback in RMIT's survey of tax practitioners
"We see an urgent need to ensure the tax system achieves balance in simplification, reflective of a digitally driven economy, encouraging tax compliance and protecting tax revenues from the risk of leakage. Reform will offer clarity for taxpayers and confidence in the tax system as a whole."
