Established in 2020 through a shared mission.
Digital Playhouse Foundation grew out of Agnes Water, Queensland. It started with two people who saw the same gap: the digital economy was moving fast, and those most at risk of being left behind in the digital divide didn't have a foothold.
Electra Frost had moved her accounting practice from inner Sydney to remote Agnes Water in 2016, proving that a fully digital professional practice was possible outside major cities. Gordon Christian had spent years running Coder Dojos and bringing cryptocurrency education and adoption to local businesses, and in 2018 put Agnes Water/1770 on the map as Australia's first digital currency-friendly town. They were active committee members with Startup Gladstone and exploring the social benefits of Bitcoin, blockchain, open-source technologies and AI.
In 2020, they opened the doors of the physical Digital Playhouse hub: workshops, events, kids learn-to-code programs, business digital skills. In 2021, they became a registered charity and were joined by Kieran Nolan, a visionary educator and technologist who innovated Australia's first Bitcoin school.
